Architecture in Dialogue with Topography and the Horizon

Situated on a steeply sloping site in Acapulco, this residence emerges from an architectural approach that embraces the natural conditions of the terrain, establishing a direct relationship between living spaces, landscape, and sea. The guiding concept draws inspiration from the analogy of a pier extending from solid ground and appearing to float toward the horizon. This interpretation takes shape through a composition of staggered volumes that descend along the natural slope, creating cantilevered platforms that project into the landscape and frame panoramic views of Acapulco Bay. The design establishes a contrast between two architectural conditions: toward the street, the residence presents a composition of solid volumes and predominantly enclosed façades, preserving the privacy of its inhabitants; toward the interior, the architecture opens through expansive glazed surfaces and interconnected spaces that frame the horizon and establish a continuous visual relationship with the surroundings. The architecture is conceived as an extension of the landscape, where topography shapes the spatial organization and the volumes appear to emerge from the earth, projecting outward toward the sea.
