Introspective Architecture: Privacy as a Way of Living

Casa Bugambilia emerges from an architectural exploration of intimacy, privacy, and the relationship between individuals and the spaces they inhabit. Located in Morelos, Mexico, the residence is conceived through the principles of introspective architecture, where the built environment becomes a sanctuary from the noise and constant activity of the outside world. The design establishes a dialogue between two seemingly opposing architectural conditions: a solid and restrained exterior that protects the privacy of its inhabitants, and an open interior configuration where natural light, vegetation, and spatial relationships create an atmosphere of calm and serenity. Through this duality, the residence creates a world of its own, where spaces are organized around everyday experiences and visual connections that encourage contemplation and personal reflection. The inhabitant becomes the protagonist of the architecture, while daily activities, movement, and individual interactions with space shape the residential experience. proposes an approach to living in which architecture goes beyond providing shelter, creating environments that encourage introspection, well-being, and self-discovery.
